November 2006 Newsletter

Presiden't Message
Our community is experiencing some inconvenient and hard times with the aftermath of the earthquake on October 15, 2006. I am thankful it did not cause any deaths and/or injuries to our families.

The closure of Sand Gulch has caused many to be impatient with the recovery. Safety for life and property was the deciding factor to close the Sand Gulch Road. As your president, I have been working with the county and the new owner of the land for the proposed by-pass road.

We will be having a public meeting at the Pa`auilo School Cafeteria on Tuesday, November 21st at 7:00 p.m. with Mr. Bruce McClure, the Director of Public Works to discuss our situation.

In the meantime, I am asking that we drive with consideration of others traveling on the roads we share. We could be a little more courteous and alert around the turns, yielding to each other as appropriate. I realize that the roads are narrow, and we all knew this fact when we decided to move into this area.

The county is working to have one lane opened through Sand Gulch by Christmas while continuing to work on the by-pass road. We cannot control nature, but we can learn from past situations to create a safe environment for all who live in our community.

We have established an email listserv and we would like to get the messages out to you if you are a paid member with an email address. You will be informed by an e-newsletter periodically of information pertaining to our community.

Our road clean-up was a success, and we are planning another day in April, and ask for more help to keep our roads clean and safe. Jamie Reno is in charge of this project, so you can call him if you wish to be a part of the clean-up at 776-9826. Thank you to all who participated in our last clean-up!

Keep Safe,

Dolores S. Ramos
