Call for help on Weed Whacking on Road by 41 Mile Marker
We have set a date with Dominic Yagong, our councilman, for maintenance and weed whacking on the road with no name by the 41 mile marker off of the Belt Highway. The date is March 8th from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. All those willing and able are encouraged to show up with weed whacking tools, rakes, and bags. The purpose is too clear back the weeds and clean up the road. Dominic said he would do his part to enlist volunteers and we can do the same with the community association. This project is a partnership between the County and the community association. Please spread the word to your friends and neighbors, as they may not be receiving our e-newsletter. If, for some reason the Right-of-Entry permission is not received from Kamehameha Schools (owner of the road) we will be sending an email notification.

For more information, call Dominic's office at 961-8264, or Jamie Reno at 776-9826.

Michele Suber is interested in getting a crew together to clean up Sand Gulch (in the gulch!) Any ideas or volunteers can contact Michele at 443-3155.

Update on Kalopa Park Signage Project
On February 6, Quentin Tomich, Diana Nui, Dave DeEsch and Linda Gallano met at the park to do an initial walk through the entrance area. Uncle Quentin showed us previous signage and we began a log of which signs needed replacing.

On February 18, Diana, Dave, and Linda were joined by Mike Gibson to walk through the Nature Trail section of the park to assess that sign situation. Diana has prepared a status list of all signs referenced on the walk brochure. The list shows which signs are totally gone, which trees are no longer there, and which signs need cleaning and/or repainting.

Dave and Mike are working up a cost assessment to be presented to the PMKCA Board on March 11. Dave and Linda met with Park Keeper, Patrick Paiva, who shared his expertise with our group about which materials seem to be most appropriate for the site. The next step is to begin cleaning the existing signs. Francis Higgins has volunteered to be a part of that group. Take a look at the volunteers and example of a sign in the attached photos.
