President's Message
Our community seems to be thriving and happy now that Sand Gulch is open and the grass on the sides of the road is cut back. We need to say thank you to the road department for all the work they do to keep our roads clean and safe. Talking about clean and safe, the operator of the grass cutter has experienced some real close calls by some of our drivers by pushing him off to the side or honking their horn to have him move a little faster. This is dangerous for both the grass cutter and the driver. Yes, he is being paid by you and me but we need to help keep him safe to do the job he is assigned to do. I stop once in a while to say thank you for doing such a good job--maybe we can all express ourselves by being polite. It does not take much time, and costs us nothing.
Sand Gulch and By Pass Road
The Sand Gulch Phases 2 and 3 have been approved by FEMA, and the Public Works Department is completing the paper work. When they start again, the road will be closed for a few hours a day. I am glad that this project is progressing. The By Pass Road is still on board and we are keeping abreast of this project.
Community Logo (Decal)
We will soon roll out a logo for our community which will identify the cars from our area. We will give all of you the opportunity to purchase a logo when it is ready. You will love it and feel so much a part of this community.
Road Clean-up on Earth Day
Our road clean up is set for April 22, Earth Day from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and then a talk story get together at the Vanilla Company. It will be a fun thing to do and we will be beautifying our community. Doesn't it sound good? You may call Jaime Reno at 776-9826 to volunteer.
Emergency Plan
Mary Souza is working on an emergency plan for our community. This is such an important chore but something all of us can benefit from. Our families are our first priority and we need to keep abreast with the knowledge and information available to survive. If any one out there is willing to work with Mary on this plan we would be glad to have you.
Pigs!
It has been brought to my attention that many of you are having unwanted visitors--the pigs that are rooting up gardens and yards. What to do about them is a real problem. If you have any suggestions, get in touch with one of the board members.
Board Meetings
The Board of Directors meets every other month on the second Tuesday of each odd month such as January, March, etc. We meet at the Vanilla Company at 7:00 p.m. Anyone who desires to attend is welcomed to come or to send concerns to our board members. We will be happy to listen.
Thank you to all who renewed their membership, it helps our organization with the necessary projects we do to keep our community safe and clean. To those who have not had the opportunity to join, please call Dianne Higgins at 775-7311 and she will be happy to help you.
May we take care of each other.
Aloha

Coqui Frog Update
The Coqui Frog Committee is pleased to let you know that a backpack sprayer and a 100 gallon gas pump powered sprayer are available for loan in the community. We also have citric acid to be used in these sprayers. Please note that a vehicle with a trailer hitch is necessary to transport the 100 gallon sprayer. Call Rob Frost (987-5452) or Rick Berman (936-1045) to borrow equipment or for more information.
There have been no reports of late of coqui frogs in our community. We believe the cooler weather has slowed down the frogs‚ activities. It has been rumored that chickens like to feed on coqui when they are on the ground in the daytime, so let your chickens range free if possible.
