President's Message, December 2007
2007 will be in the past in a few days and we will look back and ask ourselves if we have done any good this year to help our families and our community rise a little beyond their selfish instincts. I love this time of the year when the air has a chill and our homes are warmed by lighted fireplaces and family and friends who look at the good in us and love us for ourselves. We can return their love by the way we live each day.

Road Cleanup
Our plans were in place, the weather was fine but the grass was not mowed so the board, who met on the 13th of November, decided that it would be too dangerous to have our members on the roads. Safety was the concern and we will schedule another day to clean up. Jaime Reno our Road Chairman will coordinate our next clean-up day. Anyone who desires to help may call Jaime a 776-9826. Thank you to all who were ready to help on the 17th of November. I appreciate your willingness to help keep our community clean.

Peter Simmons
The board invited Mr. Peter Simmons from the Kamehameha Schools to be a guest at our board meeting on November 13, 2007. We were interested in the eucalyptus trees, the road without a name (near the 41 mile marker) and who is responsible for the grass and the road in the front of the Pa`auilo Post Office. Mr. Simmons told us that they are working on a plan for the harvesting of the trees. We asked if they had a fire plan and he informed us that they do. The pot holes and the grass in the front of the Pa`auilo Store and Post Office are a shared responsibility of Kamehameha Schools and the County of Hawaii and they are working on it. The road without a name is owned by Kamehameha Schools and they would like the County to become the legal owner. Thank you Mr. Simmons for taking the time to meet with us. We know that you are busy yet you were willing to meet with our board to answer our questions.

Annual Meeting
Our annual meeting will be held on Tuesday January 29, 2008 at the Pa`auilo School at 7:00 pm. Election of officers and a guest speaker is on the agenda. If anyone has something that needs the attention of the whole community, please feel free to call me at 776-1666 before our next board meeting that will be held on the 8th of January 2008. I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year. May all of you have a Happy Holiday Season. Keep healthy.
