Aloha,

In preparation for our next emergency, we, the PMKCA Emergency Preparedness Committee, are writing an emergency plan and identifying our risks and resources available here in our community.

We would like to utilize our resources to enable us to set up emergency communication, emergency medical care for those who need it, open roads and provide staples to those in need.

We need your help as we move forward. Please take a moment to review and answer any or all of the following questions.

1. Do you have a disaster kit prepared?

2. Do you have any large road equipment or farm equipment available to assist in clearing if needed? Please list.

3. Do you have any medical training? If so, what level?

4. Do you have any rescue training such as Red Cross, fire, rescue or military training, etc? If so, please list.

5. Do you have a catchment tank? What size?

6. Do you have any power saws?

7. Do you have any off-road vehicles? Please list.

8. Do you have any generators? What size?

9. Do you have any communication equipment or experience such as Ham radio, Motorola radio, satellite phone, etc?

10. Do you have your physical address marked on the road to assist emergency response in finding your house?

11. Do you have any other resources not mentioned here?

12. We are planning on dividing the area up into zones which will be dictated by the gulches and the bridges. Each area will need a zone leader. Would you be willing to volunteer to be the zone leader in your area? This would mean you would be the point of communication and meeting location if your area was cut off from roadway or phones, etc.

13. Please take a moment to look at your immediate area. List any risks you are concerned about. What is your major concern in the event of an emergency?

Once we have completed our emergency plan, we will submit it to the Civil Defense for review and approval. We are always in need for volunteers on our committee. Please call Dolores Ramos at 776-1666 or Mary Souza at 776-1654 if you are interested in serving on our committee.
